Computer Buses

Computer buses are electric path between different components of the computer though data can be transmitted & result generated after the processing can be produced over the output devices.

There are two type of buses-----

  • Internal buses
  • External Buses

Internal Buses---- They are on-board buses that connect the different components over the motherboard. Ex… Ram to Processor, Rom to the processor, and Cache to Processor.

External Buses----They connect the external peripherals to the system. It enables connecting devices, carrying data. It can be further divided into two parts….

  • I/O Buses
  • Memory Buses

I/O Buses---- It stands for Input-Output Buses that are used to connects & transfer data from the motherboard to Input & Output devices.

Memory Buses---- It connects the hard disk to the motherboard for transferring the data from one end to another. It can also be divided into two further parts………..

  • SATA Cables
  • PATA Cables

SATA Cables---Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) or Serial ATA cables are used to connect devices in computer cable assemblies, such as storage devices. SATA cables can connect a range of devices, including Hard drives. Optical drives. Solid-state memory drives.

PATA Cables--- PATA, short for Parallel ATA, is an IDE standard for connecting storage devices like hard drives and optical drives to the motherboard. PATA generally refers to the types of cables and connections that follow this standard
